Yesterday, Mitt Romney gave a speech in Iowa in which he clearly laid out his economic vision for America.

Elsewhere, Barack Obama was no doubt giving a speech about Big Bird, birth control, and binders.

In an interview with Univision yesterday, admitted his failure as a president claiming, "You can't change Washington from the inside."

Romney responds:  "He said he can’t change Washington from inside. He can only change it from outside. Well, we’re going to give him that chance in November. He’s going outside."

About Romney's "47%" Comment

Over the next few days, you can expect a fair bit of media handwringing and feigned indignation regarding the edited partial video from a private Romney fundraiser in which Romney says that 47% of Americans will vote for Obama because they do not pay federal income taxes or are dependent on government.  The message, however, is right, if not perfectly articulated.  To help make that point, the Astute Bloggers have gathered a few statistics.

The Republican National Convention kicked off today and Romney is now officially the Republican nominee for President.

Politifact confirms that Mitt Romney helped locate the missing teen daughter of Bain Capital partner: 

Three days later, her distraught father had no idea where she was. Romney took immediate action. He closed down the entire firm and asked all 30 partners and employees to fly to New York to help find Gay’s daughter. Romney set up a command center at the LaGuardia Marriott and hired a private detective firm to assist with the search. He established a toll-free number for tips, coordinating the effort with the NYPD, and went through his Rolodex and called everyone Bain did business with in New York and asked them to help find his friend’s missing daughter. Romney’s accountants at Price Waterhouse Cooper put up posters on street poles, while cashiers at a pharmacy owned by Bain put fliers in the bag of every shopper.

Mitt Romney was fired-up.

“The president actually said, if you’ve got a business, you didn’t build that, somebody else made that happen.” He paused and threw his hands up before adding: “Really?”

Sitting in a small office attached to a local shale industry company for an interview with the Trib, Romney remained agitated and energized.

The agitation was personal because he is genuinely appalled by President Obama’s attitude toward business.

“I could not believe he said that. And it wasn’t just a twist of phrase, he actually goes on to explain what he meant by that,” Romney said, suddenly stretching forward as if finding it difficult to contain his feelings.

The energy came from what arguably was the presumptive Republican nominee’s best rally so far. More than 1,400 people packed a 4,000-square-foot warehouse – but it wasn’t the numbers, it was the event’s organic nature.
